Desto eitler, langweiliger, abgeschmackter. Illustrativer.

PANTA RHEI – EVERYTHING FLOWS

Welcome to awakening … remember to like and subscribe. Us children along the stream.

I just start: A journey is a journey is a journey … And you never step into the same river twice.

Gertrude and Heraclitus … good travel guides? But of course, if they happen to be an co_incidence into my mind while I am going on the journey of my first blog text … those two reliably lead me to the Wikipedia article that is already waiting for me to pour my guessing inspiration into a first mold, as.

Plato immortalized Heraclitus by saying: The theory of the river is inextricably linked to Ovid’s metarmorphoses. And I say: It is essential that I and everyone recognize their very own metamorphoses … and being able to live those.

It is often painful to be a larva. Or caterpillar. Or anything in between. It is unbearable not to be able to (yet) live the foreboding certainty of the true inner form. Us artists are walking exemplary on these paths of self-knowledge and change. If we do not – like most of us – come from a background of funding and opulence, we have to find our way, our way to internal and external security.

This path leads through countless stations that interlock imperceptibly and often don’t feel like stations at all. Just like particularly painful or particularly beautiful status. And everything in between. In the painful states we sometimes do not recognize and feel our worth. We’re breathless to arrive at what supposedly guarantees us this value. Any heroic, radiant deed or glamor display.

And yet everything, every inconspicuous, even ugly-looking particle of our being on the road is valuable. A valuable component, a worthy element.

The strong among us are happy when they agree with themselves. Of course, it is most beautiful when the so-called outside world sees it and joins in. But often enough that doesn’t happen at all. On the contrary. They think we’re crazy, or weird, or just unsustainable.

Van Gogh today would not necessarily have been accepted, let alone loved. Or understood. His great sensitivity, which he had to protect: Which society would tolerate or love him today as invulnerability is a high patriarchal command and emotional ignorance is considered acceptable.

We have friends, heroes and travel companions on our way. We have ideas of how something should be, how we should be. We learn all of this from an early age and must – more than others – learn to distinguish whether the ideas about OURSELVES and LIFE really correspond to our inner truth. Because with us artists – unlike most – this has a DIRECT effect on artistic production.

A good or brilliant artistic work is always solely committed to itself. It does not pay homage to the interests of others. Unless it takes pleasure in these foreign interests, and recognizes it with great warmth as soul-related inspiration. Then genuine resonance as a playful quote is possible and wonderfully fruitful.

But the more it serves interests that have nothing to do with its original, soul-inspired impulse, the flatter it becomes. The more vain, more boring, more tasteless. Illustrative. More stupid and less mysterious. The more pornographic and dissociated.

“Throughout the ages” it has always been like that. I’m talking about western art history here. These are stories of self-assertion in ever new conditions. A story of emancipation … of self-liberation on a grand scale. And in microcosm.

Because art has always had some kind of commercial breeding ground. At least to the extent that it “became socially relevant”. And the commercial side always contained a conflict. The state, the nobility, the bourgeoisie. Everyone wants (or would) like to recognize themselves, to be able to reflect themselves in the respective arts. And then the hassle starts. The haggling. The tension between interests.

Often there is no place for holiness. For truly sacred self-expression. For making poetry possible. Poetry that creates space to recognize and find oneself. That is light and free. Knows the aesthetic force and light tenderness.

And yet it is exactly like that, the great and wonderful art … created again and again in the middle of a storm, in the middle of pain on a quiet, temporary island of self-certainty and calm. These are the phases or just moments in which the soul is with itself and can create.

Also woven into it is a story of the liberation of artist men and women. Because how does the freelance female artist actually act? Today? How did she do it then? If she even officially existed. And was not slandered or denied ih her own presence as well as in lexicons, libraries and archives.

Does she has to be over-present in her male quality in order to be successful? Still? Does she need more security for herself or another form of security?

All artists are naturally spiritual. They are because they know: they are receiving ideas from an unknown, infinite source. It’s a feminine process. The more sublime and exciting it is, the freer the field in which it can take place.

It takes security, protection, safety to enable a reception that leads away from the illustrative take-up of any vulgar ideas that the vanity of any bogey makes possible. That goes for both men and women.

This is the flow, the journey we artists are always on, downstream, to ourselves, to our poetic shores. WE ARE the shores ourselves and the RIVER too, and yet we are part of a great mysterious whole, which we give shape and which we explore at the same time, which again and always is a great NOW.
